In olden days going for a movie was prominent. It was not an easy task taking whole family to watch a movie. There were many reasons for this but the main reason was high amount of ticket rates. But now-a-days this concept is totally different. Sound quality, picture quality and all has changed drastically and more technologies are used to give the best to viewers. Black and white movies were shown back in 70’s, but now color movies are seen. Going to a theater and watching movie is very simple and is not at all expensive. The sound quality has changed from simple mono or monaural where only one audio channel was used, to Dolby digital sound quality. Sitting in a theater having Dolby sound let you feel as if you are watching the ongoing scene in real and you are there at that particular moment.

Watching a movie at home on DVD players, TV, laptops or computers is very easy. Buying a DVD of the movie you want to see is more preferable these days. The very next question that will rise in your mind is what about the sound quality? Enjoying the same theater sound quality at home is possible. Thanks to new technology. Earlier simple mono with only one audio track was used. Later two channel recordings were innovated. But now with the help of increasing expertise trend of surround sound is going on. Surround sound or a home theater system gives the same feeling of sitting in a theater. Two channel sound is usually found in televisions, radio or old cassette players. Surround sound is added up with more audio channels. It has two rear surround speakers as well. This helps the sound to come minimum three directions. You hear the sound from all directions such as in a theater. This let you feel as if you are present there. Dolby laboratories design surround sound technology. The home theater system usually consists of a center speaker, two front surround speakers, two rear surround speakers and woofer. The front speakers are usually the two channel sound and the rear surround speakers which are to be kept at the back side facing each other are the two extra speakers to create surround sound. The center speaker is kept next to TV. The front speakers are kept on left and right sides of the viewer having exactly distance and facing the spectator. The rear surround speakers are kept at the back side of the viewer, little above as compared to front speakers. Keep the woofer anywhere. Use stands to keep the rear surround speakers on a little height. Either keep the rear speaker 3 feet above the viewing area or below to get the surround sound. Be careful in selecting the home theater. First find out specifications of each system and then according to your viewing area select the home theater.
